Source Technologies' Currency Processing Solution Captures Teller Cash Position by Currency Denomination in Real-Time

-Solution reduces cash on hand, eliminates the teller drawer, cash counting and human error -

Charlotte, Nov. 15, 2004-Source Technologies, a leading provider of integrated solutions for managing financial transactions and other secure business processes, announced the availability of its Currency Processing Solution, an integrated hardware and software system that automates teller cash drawers and improves visibility and management of branch cash. Currency Processing combines Source Technologies Teller Vault and Personal Cash Recycler products with the company's ST Currency Manager software application.

Source Technologies' Teller Vault and Personal Cash Recycler are intelligent devices that collect, recycle, and dispense cash while tracking cash-on-hand and denomination count. When deployed with ST Currency Manager software, the solution provides a centralized, real-time view of the bank's cash and denomination position for every teller and branch in the network. Banks can more accurately manage currency requirements and decrease the overall amount of daily operating cash needed by branches.

"Currency Processing makes branch cash management an exact science," said Miles Busby, president and founder, Source Technologies. "Knowing exactly how many twenties, tens and fives each teller needs day-to-day allows for more informed decisions and accurate monitoring of branch cash flow, by denomination."

In addition to tracking cash flow, Currency Processing automates all cash handling by the teller, thus eliminating errors in end-of-day cash balancing. It records each teller's "buy and sell" from the head-teller, accurately accounting for each transaction and reducing the likelihood of internal fraud. Additionally, greater visibility on cash and denomination position reduces the movement of cash between branches, cutting the need for armored car services.

Automating the cash drawer also frees teller staff to focus on customer service. "By eliminating cash counting, tellers make eye contact with their customers," Busby added. "It transforms a 'heads down'transaction in to a 'heads up'experience that is more likely to strengthen customer relationships and allow bank employees to deliver value-added service."
