Horace Mann Selects Source Technologies' e-DocSecure™ Disbursement Management Software

Charlotte, May 16, 2003-Source Technologies' e-DocSecure was selected by Horace Mann to manage its disbursements enterprise-wide. e-DocSecure is a secure disbursement request, approval and fulfillment system. It enables Horace Mann's remote offices throughout the U.S. to send check requests to corporate headquarters over the Intranet. Each approved check is then released, encrypted and sent directly to the secure MICR printer located at the remote office, where it is securely printed on blank check stock. "Web, relational database and server technologies offered by e-DocSecure provide Horace Mann with the ability to maintain strong centralized accounting and security controls by Corporate Management," said Bret Conklin, SVP & Controller at Horace Mann.

Horace Mann wanted a consistent way to print checks across all platforms, as each type of check produced - Accounts Payable, Payroll, Claims - operates from a different system. "The flexibility of e-DocSecure in accepting multiple file formats from the various business operations within Horace Mann allowed the system to be implemented without spending programming hours to modify the legacy systems requesting checks from e-DocSecure," said Conklin. Coordinating changes across Horace Mann's multiple systems was neither timely nor efficient in accommodating the business needs. The reporting capabilities in e-DocSecure automate the end-of-day data transfers between Horace Mann's many back-office systems. Conklin added, "Implementation of e-DocSecure allows Horace Mann to centralize our check writing functions, control security authorizations for check production at the Corporate level and streamline our back-office procedures to reconcile checks produced by all business operations.

Some security features in e-DocSecure include password protection, user group definitions and limitations, individual and daily item limits, restricted user views, data encryption, print confirmation and audit reports. There are no limitations to the number of locations, users or printers. This product includes the flexibility to design checks and other documents; and customization can include data entry screens, reports, organizational groups, roles and rights, including multiple companies and bank accounts. Costly overnight shipping and courier charges are virtually eliminated. Checks, wire transfers and ACH transactions are delivered at the speed of the Internet.
