Infonox and Source Technologies Form Technology Alliance, Introduce concourse “Teller Assisted Self-Service” Solution for Retail Bank Branch Automation
Santa Clara, CA and Charlotte NC, November 12, 2003-Infonox and Source Technologies today announced they have formed a strategic technology alliance and collaborated on their first joint solution, a system named concourse that targets the retail banking and check cashing industries. Source Technologies will unveil the innovative concourse system at BAI’s Retail Delivery Show (RDS) in New Orleans November 17-21, 2003.
The two companies are pioneering a new concept that significantly increases in-branch teller productivity called “teller assisted self-service.” With the concourse system, up to four kiosks with one or more check printers, recyclers or other peripherals are organized in separate windows in front of a single teller. Consumers “set-up” their banking transactions on a self- service terminal and then the teller assists by completing the transaction. Teller assisted self-service increases teller productivity because a single teller can manage several customer lines simultaneously.
Under the agreement, Infonox is providing a comprehensive, off-the-shelf software architecture for the concourse system. The Infonox software enables all of the devices and the peripherals to work together to perform a range of transactions including deposits and withdrawals utilizing cash recycling technology, check reading/imaging for Check-21 readiness, MICR counter document preparation and others. It enables Web-based transactions, simplifies integration with existing legacy systems and includes hooks to interface with vendors such as Webtone/Fidelity, Argo, Alogent and others.
Source Technologies offers a turnkey solution by integrating the hardware devices with the software and providing implementation and maintenance support services. "The benefits that concourse provides are very compelling – in one fell swoop we have been able to save for the bank both time and money through improved labor productivity, transaction accuracy, cash management and better customer service. To take concourse from the drawing board to reality, we had to continuously innovate - and teaming with Infonox has enabled us to do exactly that,” said Miles Busby, President of Source Technologies. "concourse is an exciting new step in branch automation. Years of experience in the self-service and payments industries prepared us well to develop a product that is capable of complex transactions, yet remains simple to use and integrate into the bank branch. We are proud of this product and expect to make many further innovations as automation needs increase in the branch,” said Dr. Safwan Shah, CEO and founder of Infonox.
concourse is being offered by Source Technologies as an end-to-end solution. IBM has been selected as the fulfillment partner for large deployments, maintenance and consulting services. In addition to Source Technologies’ booth, you can also see concourse in IBM’s booth at BAI’s Retail Delivery Show on November 17-21 in New Orleans.
