Source Technologies and Bank of America use Los Angeles as Test Site for New TellerAssist Technology
Charlotte, October 31, 2003-Source Technologies today announced the launch of a three-branch test of its concourse teller assist technology with Bank of America in Los Angeles. concourse enables a single teller to manage two or three customer lines simultaneously by allowing consumers to "set-up" their own banking transactions.
"With the number of teller transactions continuing to rise, and banks feeling continued pressure to control costs, the timing of our concourse product introduction is perfect," said Miles Busby, President of Source Technologies. "We really feel like this is the wave of the future when it comes to teller transactions, providing customers with a great customer experience while reducing bank costs!"
The technology behind the test is proprietary; however the basic approach is much like that of airline self check-in. The customer identifies themselves with their banking card. They select their desired transaction on a large touch screen monitor. They can cash checks, deposit cash, buy a money order or certified check, do almost any type of teller transaction. The teller monitors their transaction, steps in to help if necessary, and completes the transaction by providing the customer with their receipt or cash. Customer wait time and teller transaction time are both significantly reduced compared to the traditional approach.
"We feel that concourse provides our associates with a great opportunity to enhance their productivity while remaining close to the customer," says Bank of America Innovation and Development Executive Amy Brady.
concourse is expected to enhance the productivity of single teller two or three fold, allowing banks a payback on their investment in less than one year. Additionally, the technology's imaging components will facilitate bank compliance with upcoming Check 21 regulations.
Speed to market is enhanced through several key partnerships. Teller platform integration partnerships have been announced with ARGO and TouchPoint, as well as with ATM networks including ACI Base 24. IBM is providing worldwide integration, installation and on-site service support.
